Eminent Urdu poet Dr. Barque Punchhavee takes his last breath at Sant
Parmanand Hospital, New Delhi on Friday (Dec 16, 2011) morning after prolonged illness, informs son Nirmal Vaid. He was 76. His condition turned critical last month.
Dr. Barque’s ghazhal collections ‘Barkho-Sharar’, Barkho-Ashiyan’ and ‘Barkho-Bara’ have been well acclaimed by Urdu scholars in literature world while he has also received the honour for ‘Barkho-Sharar’ by Urdu Academy, Delhi government in 2005. His upcoming ghazhal collections ‘Bazm-e-Khayal’ is in press. He has also written several religious books like Hindi translation of Gita – ‘Barque Gita’, ‘Barque Ramayana, ‘Barque Durga- Saptashi’ and ‘Barque Naam Gita’.
Dr.Barque was also a founder patron of art and culture NGO Paridhi Art Group.
Eminent poets Uday Pratap Singh, Laxmi Shankar Vajpayee, Sarita Sharma and Naresh Shandilya have condoled the demise of Dr. Barque.
